Hello friends at Hua Mao!
We thought it would be awesome to try some Chinese art and then some Oriental art.
We first looked at some Chinese characters and we thought they were JUST BEAUTIFUL. Even though we know they make up your language, we thought they were so detailed and lovely, that to us, they were just like pictures! So we had a go at writing the Chinese character for ‘Crisis’ which we learnt came in two parts, first danger, and then opportunity. We thought this was very very clever, because it made us think about those times when something upsets us, like falling over, or having an argument with a friend, and that perhaps it’s not just a time of danger, but a time that could lead to change or making better decisions. We thought this was a really cool way of looking at the situation.
After trying to paint the character for a while, we realised it was quite tricky! Our characters came out a little bit wonky and a little bit squiggly but it was really fun trying them out. We wonder if you can read any of them! Ha ha!
After that we painted cherry blossoms, using the bottoms of bottles. This was SOOOOO fun and we thought they looked really lovely in the end. We put them up outside the art room so everyone in the school could see them.
We are looking forward to seeing your ‘Australia’ drawings.
