Us We Them Project | And now… trying our hand at our own art!

Footnotes is a project about sharing and learning, and last week, after trying some Oriental art, we felt that we’d learnt a lot. But what about the sharing part of the project? Can we share ‘Australian’ art with our friends at Hua Mao? Do we know enough to share? Are we connected with Indigneous art, the art that comes from the very beginning, from the people who have been here from the very beginning, on the land that has sat here from the very beginning…

Well…. we thought about this a lot, and decided we would do some more learning, before we got to the sharing. So we tried our hand at Indigenous art using traditional dot paintings. We did however, take some creative liberties, and used very colourful, Maharishi Prep style and added our hand print as well, which was our way of saying “Hello, welcome” and also using our hands, our helping hands, as a gesture to try to connect to our very special Aboriginal heritage.

We had so much fun making these patterns, and making them colourful and vibrant.

 We hope you like them! And we can’t wait to see yours!
